Eugene Janin papers, 1854-1866 [manuscript].

Chiefly letters to Louis Janin, French immigrant, engineer in New Orleans and California, from his son Eugene, primarily while Eugene was an officer of the 10th Louisiana Regiment, C.S.A., in Virginia, 1861-1862, about personal needs and activities and illness among the troops. Also included is a brief diary of Eugene, 1854, concerning a girl in whom he was interested.

Eugene Janin (died 1862) was a Confederate officer who served with the 10th Louisiana Infantry Regiment in Virginia.
